Indonesia is an agrarian country which means a country with a large population of farmers works. The agricultural sector is the backbone of the economy in Indonesia. Corn (Zea Mays) is one of the most important agricultural commodities and is the second source of carbohydrates after rice. Apart from being a food ingredient, corn is also consumed as one of the animal feed ingredients and industrial raw materials. The pests and diseases that attack corn plants are one of the serious problems in the corn industry and agriculture, especially for corn farmers, because they have an impact on the low productivity and quality of corn. The limited knowledge possessed by a farmer and the limited number of experts in consulting plant problems make it difficult for farmers to identify the problems faced in their crops. For that, farmers need a media or a practical system that has the ability to diagnose like an expert. The expert system that will be created is to diagnose pests and diseases in maize plants using the Dempster Shafer method to calculate the predetermined believe value, where the believe value is the weight inputted according to the expert's trust. Manhattan Distance was chosen as one of the techniques that is often used to determine the similarity between two object objects with absolute results. Like an expert, it is hoped that this expert system can become a media of consultation and help users to find out pests and diseases in corn.
